Is home distillation alcohol easy?

Home distillation alcohol is being prepared by many people who have learned the intricacies of distilling moonshine. The most important part of the distilling process is to make a good homemade still. A still can be made with the help of , a pot that has a lid with a hole, a rubber tube that fits tightly into the hole, a jar and cold water or ice to cool the tube. However it is essential to note that it is illegal in most states to distill alcohol at home so make sure you are not breaking any laws when you home distill alcohol.

Some of the basic ingredients you will need to distill alcohol at home are corn meal, water, sugar, yeast, malt. Mix these ingredients in a large pot/container. This mixture is called the “mash”. Leave this in a still to ferment. Fermentation will depend on how warm the mash is. Heat the mash to a temperature of 173 degrees and you will see that a clear liquid which has the color of a dark beer is produced. The vapor that is produced should be trapped using a coil or tube. Transfer the vapor into another container. When this vapor condenses, you will get alcohol. This process can be repeated around eight times before the mash has to be changed.

You can make your moonshine still at home with the following: a steamer or crock-pot with a lid, copper tubing, a big plastic bottle with a lid, a jug, some filters, waterproof sealant and charcoal. Make a hole in the steamer lid and feed the copper tubing into it. Make a large hole in the container in order to put ice into it. Make another hole in the bottle lid and feed the copper tubing into the bottle lid and out from its side. Put the end of the tubing into the jug/storage container where you will store your alcohol. Seal any gaps in the holes around the tube so that there is no leakage of gasses etc.

Fill the steamer with all the ingredients and fill the bottle with ice. Heat the mixture in the steamer to a temperature of 175 to 200F. You will have to throw away the first ounces of alcohol produced because it is full of impurities. Ice will have to be added to the bottle right through the process. Keep sampling the distilled brew for quality and taste.

Home distillation alcohol pros have recommended that you run the finished produce through your still for the second time before you strain it through the filters. The jug should not be sealed too tightly after it has been filled because the moonshine/alcohol is sure to produce a lot of gas during the fermentation. Sunning the moonshine through a still will balance all the flavors and make a good alcohol. You will know that the fermentation process is complete when the mash stops bubbling and begins to get clear.
